Background & Context for the New Division
With the support of President Leslie Wong and his Cabinet, the Division of Equity & Community Inclusion will open in time for academic year 2017-18! With this historic launch, this new division will be responsible to lead, coordinate, implement and evaluate a broad range of sustained programs, initiatives, events and activities designed to:
- facilitate intercultural/intergroup dialogue,
- promote equity and inclusion,
- advance social justice, and
- improve campus climate for all of our students.
Among several desired outcomes, most notably Equity & Community Inclusion will work collaboratively with campus partners (including student clubs and organizations) to close the educational equity gap in support of our Graduation Initiative 2025 goals, as well as fuel and support our diverse students’ hopes and dreams to graduate and go on to make a positive impact in their communities and on the world.

Programs & Units
The units that initially will comprise this new division include:
- AAPI Student Services
- Black Unity Center (click here to access the proposal for this Center)
- Dream Resource Center
- Office of Diversity & Student Equity
Thanks to the generous sponsorship from University Housing, Equity & Community Inclusion already has a new home. They will be located in Village C - Suites 140, 141 and 142 (space located across from Office of International Programs). They will be joined in this space by AAPI Student Services which opened in Fall 2016. Please note that Dr. Pérez’s office will be in SSB 403A. Once the team has a chance to get settled and refurbish these spaces, we will host an open house event, so please look for that invitation later this Fall term!
